New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, fittingly nicknamed “King Henrik,” continued his ascension to the top of the NHL’s all-time wins list with his 446th career victory Saturday night in Boston.
Lundqvist, who has played his entire career with New York, made 27 saves to break a tie with Hockey Hall of Famer and former Rangers goalie Terry Sawchuk to take sole possession of sixth place all time.
The Swedish netminder reached the milestone in his 840th career regular-season game. Sawchuk achieved the mark in 971 games (eight games, three wins with New York). Lundqvist is now one game away from tying winger Vic Hadfield for seventh on the Rangers’ all-time regular-season appearance list (skaters and goaltenders included).
